Hi Carol, came across your site while doing research. Was very interested to read about William Evans and Phoebe Westlake. Just thought I would let you know, the tram conductor who saved Phoebe from drowning at the Ocean Beach on Tues 17th November 1891
was my great grandfather on my mother's side. His name was Andrew Howitt Kennedy 1851-1932. He worked as a tram conductor for many years and then became a tide waiter (customs), before he retired. I guess if you had a photo of William and Phoebe, you would
have included it with your story? If you have come across one since, would you please scan and email me a copy for my family research. Kind Regards, Peter of Turangi, NZ.
